Photalchemy turns a photo into a cut pattern for welding a metal model. To do that we have to store your photo and the files we generate from it. This page explains what we keep, why, who helps us process it, and how you can have it removed.

Who we are

Photalchemy is run from the Netherlands. For anything about your data, email info@photalchemy.com.

What we collect

  • Account: your email address and a hashed password (we never see or store the password itself).
  • Your projects: the photos you upload (or the descriptions you type and the reference images generated from them), the project names you give them, and everything generated from them — 3D models, cut-ready shapes, cut patterns (DXF/SVG) and PDF guides — plus the settings you chose.
  • Payments: when payments are enabled, whether a project's download is unlocked and any promotion code used. Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach us.
  • Usage statistics: page views via our own self-hosted Umami analytics. Umami uses no cookies and builds no personal profiles.

Why we use it

  • To run the service: generate your 3D model, cut pattern and guide, and let you download them.
  • To send account emails: email verification and password resets.
  • To help you when you contact us with a problem.
  • To improve quality: we may review uploaded photos and the models and patterns generated from them to find and fix problems. Only the Photalchemy administrator can do this, access is logged, and we never publish or share your photos or models.

Services that process data for us

  • Tripo — creates the 3D model, and the reference image when you describe an object instead of uploading a photo. Your photo or description is sent to Tripo's API for this.
  • Resend — delivers account emails (your email address and the message).
  • Stripe — processes payments, when payments are enabled.
  • Hetzner — hosts our servers and stores your files.

We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and projects until you delete them. Deleting a project on your dashboard removes its photo and all generated files. Deleting your account in Settings removes your account and all of your projects.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it. Email info@photalchemy.com and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
